A charming Escape

The Little French Maison is a beautifully restored medieval stone house with breathtaking views over terracotta rooftops and La Montagne Noire. Accommodating up to six people,  The Little French Maison sits within the fortifications of the medieval village of Conques sur Orbiel. A typical French village house, tucked into a narrow street to keep it in the shade from the Mediterranean sun, has beautiful views past the original 15th century tower towards La Montagne Noire.

History

conques sur orbiel

Conques sur Orbiel, Carcassonne, is a medieval fortified village sitting at the foot of La Montagne Noire (Black Mountains). The ancient village, dating back to the 14th Century, is only a 10 minute drive from the world heritage sites of Cité of Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi. The airport, town centre and the railway station are only 15 minutes away.

Wonderful cycling countryside is on the doorstep in La Montagne Noire as well as beautiful walks by the side of the tranquil Canal du Midi and into the countryside of Aude from the front door of the house.

Carcassonne

Bastille Day, 14th July. Experience the Bastille Day fireworks over the medieval Cité de Carcassonne. It's as if the ancient Cité is besieged and on fire as it was many times in its turbulent history. The atmosphere in the streets of Carcassonne is friendly, with everyone sharing picnics during the early evening, waiting with anticipation for darkness to fall and the amazing firework display to commence.
